Nonequilibrium Quantum dynamics and relaxation phenomena in many body systems

Scope

Nonequilibrium Quantum dynamics is becoming one of the most advanced contemporary research areas in solid state physics, ultracold atoms, nano physics and quantum devices. Understanding of such dynamics in real world systems presents a challenge to experimentalists and theory alike. The time-evolution of many-body quantum systems can be viewed as the time-evolution of quantum information, opening the way to new experimental ideas. At the same time, new and sometimes unexpected experimental discoveries provide stimulus for theory. This workshop continues a tradition with the 7th in the series of focused worskops on nonequilibrium quantum phenomena which by all accounts have been extremely stimulating. This workshop intends to bring together scientists working in the field of:

  • Nonequilibrium quantum dynamics and relaxation phenomena in closed quantum systems
  • Nonequilibrium quantum dynamics in CDW’s, superconductors and frustrated magnetic systems
  • Nonequilibrium quantum dynamics of ultracold atoms in optical lattices

arrival information

The access to the site (altitude 1600 m) heavily depends on the weather conditions. The site is accessible by a combination of a cable car and a snowtrain/SUV organized by the hotel. In the absence of snow the site is accessible also by an ordinary car. The last part of the road is however rather steep and rough and often closed. There is a possibility to park the car at the end of the tarmac road at mountain pasture Jezerca (altitude 1400 m) and use a hotel-organized snowtrain/SUV transport afterwards. In the case of a heavy snow fall during the conference the return from mountain pasture Jezerca by a car might be difficult so usage of the cable car is advised. The cable car to Krvavec runs from 08.00 am until 17.00 pm.

The organizers will arrange a transport from Joze Pucnik airport (15 min taxi drive to the cable car), mountain pasture Jezerca and Ljubljana to the site upon receiving the detailed arrival information.  In the case of arrival out of the cable-car operating hours you will be transfered by a taxi or shuttle (~25 min drive from the airport) to an institute apartment in Ljubljana. The next day a transfer to the hotel with a taxi or shuttle and the cable car will be organized.

While the Krvavec ski area allows for a variety of winter recreational activities, there is no guarantee that snow conditions through the period of the conference will be favorable for skiing, snowboarding, etc.. The ski area has snow making facilities, however, those are operational only under favorable weather conditions (in particular low enough temperatures during the night). In any case, all participants are encouraged to come  equipped with  warm clothing  and winter or even better hiking shoes. In case there is no skiing, we will organize short hikes. There is as well a ski-rental facility not far from the hotel. A few days before the conference we will send you the current weather and snow conditions update which can also be found on http://www.rtc-krvavec.si/en/winter/ski-resort/.
